Tented Weddings
Below are a few things to consider whether you are looking to have a tented wedding or are hired to execute a tented wedding.
Truth or Myth:
You can place a tent anywhere?
A tented wedding is inexpensive.
A tent must have exit signs & fire extinguishers.
If the tent will be at your home, you don’t need permits.
The tent space must be measured to ensure it fits.
All tents take the same amount of time to setup.
When you rent a tent, it comes with everything. (i.e. lighting, draping, etc.)
Expectations vs Reality:
Expectations: There are many factors to consider when planning and executing a tented wedding. Careful attention is needed when considering the expectations. False expectations can highly impact the guest experience.
Budget: Usual comments with regards to tented weddings, is that it is inexpensive. As a wedding specialist and planner, the goal is to ensure that we educate the client with regards to the realistic costs and process of a tented wedding.
Location: A tented wedding can take place at a venue (depending on their requirements) or at a clients home. It is not a guarantee that you can just set up a tent anywhere. Planning tented weddings require research and preparation, more than weddings that take place at a venue.
Space: Even if the space is large, it is highly recommended to contact a tent specialist for a proper walk thru. There are many things in addition to space that the specialist will look into during the site visit.
What’s Included?: When you rent a tent, it’s just that a tent. Depending on the rental company, the sides of the tent may be included or an additional expense. There are other expenses to consider as well: lighting, draping, permits, flooring, air/heating, décor, etc.
Reality: If the appropriate planning guidelines are taken into consideration, clients will be able to host an amazing tented experience.
